The West Reading Fashion Show

Last night I had the honor to attend the West Reading Fashion Show. I’ll be honest and say that I had no idea what to expect. As a girl from Reading, I don’t spend too much time in West Reading. Everything I need is right here in my city. But as a lover of clothing and events, I was excited to see what the WRFS had in store for me.

Upon arrival at the EtchFit Gym, the line was already out the door. People chatted excitedly while waiting to be checked in or to purchase tickets. Models were walking around and greeting people, essentially giving us a sneak peek at what was to come. As soon as I checked in, I was greeted by pink champagne, which immediately won me over.

Don’t let my face fool you, I was having a great time!

As I walked into the gym, I was surprised it was a gym! The setup perfectly resembled a NYFW runway. There were two dancers in the middle of the runway dancing on platforms, dimmed lights, and my favorite – overhead string lights. There was a great variety of appetizers, good music, and a lot of people mingling and enjoying themselves. I hung out in the photographer section, which was at the very top of the runway, with the rest of the media coverage. While I’m no photographer, I was excited to have a great place to take my pictures.

Once the show got started, the lights were turned on and our attention was all on the models. My absolute favorite part of the show was the models. Almost every single boutique had a diverse cast of models, ranging from different ethnicities, complexions, ages, and body types. It was refreshing to see so many beautiful people, who don’t necessarily fit a typical “model look” walking on a runway, wearing great clothes, and just killing it!

Overall, I’m very happy I was able to attend this event and take part in such a special night. The room was radiating with such positive energy, it was hard to not enjoy myself. The team who put this event together did such an amazing job. All the designers and boutiques who participated picked the best selections to showcase, and the models really stole the show!

A big thank you to Mateo from Retorocle for connecting me with Susan Golembiski, owner and design of Frock on Penn, to cover this event!

Here are some of the amazing models and selections from the show.
