All Eyes On You – Altavese Williams

Last year, I created the “Who to Watch” list, which spotlighted 16 creatives or entrepreneurs from Reading, PA. In honor of the new list approaching, I followed up with the 2018 class to see what they’ve done since we started watching them.

How has your company/ brand/ you grown?

The Ebony Luxe Collection has grown tremendously. The website has been receiving three times the traffic as it did last year. I believe it has to do with the last photo shoot I did. I wanted to capture the inclusiveness of a curvy woman next to a petite woman while still making both looks look beautiful. I received so many messages, e-mails, and comments on that last shoot. A lot of women are extremely happy that I am expanding into a Curvy line that goes up to a 4X. With that being said, I think that’s what making my brand stand out and helping me grow even more.

What did you accomplish this year?

My main focus this year was to make a statement. I wanted everyone to know Ebony Luxe Collection. I wanted my Ad on everyone’s timeline and news feed. I needed to market myself well this year. The photo shoot this year and even the fashion show are build-ups to what’s to come. I think I did a good job doing that. This year has been a great marketing year and I definitely have the city buzzing right now.

What is the biggest lesson you learned?

The biggest lesson that I have learned has been to just have fun with things. Nothing ever goes as planned. I’m such a perfectionist that I tend to overthink and over plan. I can’t control every situation so therefore just keep going and have fun. If you can’t have fun with your brand and your business, it’s just going to be stressful and overwhelming. Learn to laugh and keep going even after downfalls or setbacks.

Has your “why” changed?

My “why” hasn’t changed much. I’m making affordable clothing for all women no matter the size!

What’s next for 2019?

I am so ready for 2019! I think big, I dream big, I go big! I’m hoping to release the PLUS CURVE+ line for up to 4X sized women early 2019. I’m also dropping my men’s line, and I’m dropping my shoe line so I am beyond ready for 2019! I’m hoping for a great year.
